Wilmington Preschool of the Arts - Philosophy Statement
Wilmington Preschool of the Arts -
Wilmington Preschool of the Arts Philosophy

Our goal is to provide a home-like environment, which we feel is especially important for children encountering their first experience away from home. We offer small class sizes and ideal student to teacher ratios. This enables our teachers to have a powerful impact with each child by giving them the individual attention that is essential during their early years.

Within the classroom children select from a variety of activities designed to promote the development of social, emotional, and physical skills.
Activities are based on monthly academic units of study, a vast variety of arts and crafts, music and movement, dramatic play, early math and science discovery, fine and gross motor activities, children's literature, pre-writing skills, social skill development, sensory activities, and a fully equipped playground.

By providing a setting which fosters self-esteem, builds confidence and is based on respect, it is our goal that the children will be empowered to take risks in their learning. Through guided discovery and hands-on learning, the children are involved in a fully integrated curriculum. The broad range of age appropriate activities easily engage toddlers and preschoolers.

WPA partners with Stretch-n-Grow® for ages 2 1/2- 5 years old. This childhood physical education, nutrition, and wellness program improves the level of fitness in our children and teaches them the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Develops good health and fitness habits in a fun and EXERciting way.

Developing a profound respect for each child and understanding the important role played by his/her parent or guardian is central to our philosophy.  We seek to establish a positive personal interaction with our children and we regard each child as an important, capable individual.
